Providing nutrient-dense food grown on the East Side of Kansas City since 2010

Bread and Roses Farm began as a community garden, with plots for individuals to use, extra produce given to neighbors, and a few classes. Over the years it has evolved into a CSA and market garden, allowing a hopefully growing number of people to farm full-time and providing our neighbors with affordable, healthy, locally-grown produce.

Our approach to farming focuses on increasing biodiversity and soil life on the farm, both for healthier plants, and as a haven for insect and plant species that would otherwise not thrive in the city. We are working towards remineralizing the soil to provide nutrient-dense food, and we are committed to making our produce economically fair to the farmer and to the eaters.

Bread and Roses is currently based on four formerly vacant lots on the East Side of Kansas City. We also have access to pasture land 45 minutes east of the city for chickens, cows, and other large projects.
